“Volunteer Makers has given us a way to attract volunteers for one off activities or events and volunteering that can be done at home on a flexible basis. Most importantly it has allowed us to get the message out to our communities that these micro or flexible ad hoc volunteer opportunities are very valid, really make a difference and can be used to CV build, gain skills or sample new experiences as effectively as a long term, regular volunteer commitment.
It has moved volunteering away from being the exclusive preserve of only those that have the time and social situation to volunteer long term and regularly at the same place and same time, to something that anyone and everyone can do. This mix and match, dip in, dip out, to fit in with different stages in your life, encourages volunteering to be a natural and comfortable part of life not a bolt on extra that you have to make an extra special sacrifice for.”
